Umar's 1 year old?!?

It's June. And that only means one thing. Umar's turning one this 28th. Oh my gosh. He's ONE?? ONE. It's been a hell of a roller coaster ride, but I am so so so grateful of these things : - I managed to breastfeed him till he's one. (that was my goal. At least until he turns one.) - I managed to NOT get pregnant yet (without any contraceptive devices or medications - except breastfeeding) - He's well-fed now. Alhamdulillah. Ever since we moved, he eats at least THREE times a day now. But despite the happiness, i am also pretty worried and sad. Those who are close with me, they'll know. But in time, i hope these worries will disappear and everything will turn out alright. Umar's next checkup is a day after his birthday and i am just hoping that it'll be good. Happy 1st Birthday, my baby boy. You're one year old now. You've yet to walk, crawl or even feed on your own. But most people are telling Ibu not to worry and that you...

Umar's first plane trip / Husband's birthday trip

Umar's first vacation was nothing short of wonderful.

We knew that we wanted to go on a vacation as it was the Husband's birthday (we are ALWAYS overseas during your birthday. #notfair) and at first we thought of heading to Rome but we were doubting so many things. And then plans changed and we decided we didn't want to go somewhere too far, where the flight is more than 3 hours as it is after all, Umar's first trip and truthfully we were scared as well.

But all is well and Alhamdulillah, when we were in Phuket, everything was made easy for us and it was pretty smooth for a couple with a baby.

I booked everything and I think I spent around SGD $1000 on accommodations alone. But overall I believe we spent less than $2000 during our 1 week stay in Phuket.

I tried my best to search for the beautiful hotels with nice view at an affordable price, but I just had to splurge on one villa....... (it is for the husband, of course.) Husband requested that he wanted to wake up to sea view, as well as an indoor pool. (So over)

For our 3G and transportation, I bought the plans over KLOOK and simply redeem it at the airport counter.

Transportation came about 20 mins after we landed. But we were grateful for this delay as we got a muslim driver.

First stop, Centara Blue Marine Resort & Spa.

But first... this boy on the bed posing while sleeping is a must.

Ocean Deluxe Facing Sea View
The view from our room. I mean... can you believe it?!

We discovered the rooftop pool the day after. It is so so so beautiful.
(We thought our view was wow. This is even more stunning.)

Meanwhile, this is directly opposite our room.

We sneakily went swimming without Umar. (He was sleeping soundly in our room.)
Sorry Umar!

Didn't get to swim or spend time here but that's alright. At least we got photos!

During this Phuket trip, we mostly spent time eating but we didn't capture much photos outside, as we had Umar with us and it was just really tiring as we didn't bring along the pram. Both Shafie and I took turns carrying Umar. But Alhamdulillah he slept most of the time, as he liked being in the carrier and obviously he got so used to us carrying him around. #pampered #firstchild
Nevertheless, it was the true meaning of teamwork.

We tried a couple of restaurants and i totally dig this one place which is in the Muslim community area. It's near the masjid as well but i totally forgotten the name so.. i will not talk much about the food we had...(if you're going, just be adventurous and ask around ok?)

Shafie also limited the number of times that we can take the tuk-tuk in a day... I mean... that was TORTUROUS (because we had to walk ALOT) but if we didn't do that, then we would be broke just by spending on tuk-tuks
From our hotel to the city area, it's $10. To and fro, that would be $20. So it is quite expensive... comparing to the rental bikes which are $10 a day- you can go anywhere and everywhere.

We spent 3d 2n in Centara, afterwards we went to a budget hotel. (This is to actually trick Shafie.) This budget hotel (SunSeaSand) is nearby the beach - right in the middle of the city. We spent 2d 1n here. While we were staying in this budget hotel, we basked in all of the time left in the city, because the third hotel is away from the city. We didn't even plan to get out of the hotel area during the stay there.

We went to the beach to unwind, foot massages, food, food and more food. (I really wished i ate more though)
It was truly a vacation to unwind- except that my body was constantly in pain every morning when I wake, because we carry Umar everyday and walked for distances!

Third stop, Bandara Villas.
Here's photos of Bandara Villas- both of us looked forward to arriving here. Staying here meant truly relaxing and doing pretty much nothing for the next 3 days. YAY.

This. is. the. view.
OUR VIEW.

We had the pool which oversees the ocean. I mean.... what's better than waking up to this.

Umar's face is me really.

This villa-hotel also has a private beach. You can see how near those boats were to the shore.

This was us heading out. The view was seriously beautiful, we couldn't stop taking photos.

Husband had his haircut just the day before coming to Bandara.

"Do you like it? B, do you like it?"
"I love it." - Shafie

Funny story. When we checked in, there was no honeymoon decoration.  The lady knocked and said she wanted to do the decoration. But we were already lepaking. So husband told her to come tomorrow while we were out for breakfast. And the lady really did it :")

This was really the highlight of everything. Breakfast was amazing. Usually it was buffets right? This hotel serves breakfast, unlimited, off the menu. Eggs benedict, Pancakes, French toasts, Eggs. IT WAS AMAZING LAH.
(No wonder $400++ per night.)
Of course, the waiters accommodated to our needs- no pork.
So....that explains why Bandara Villas was $800++ for two nights...πŸ˜‚πŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’Έ
Whatever it is, I think it was money well spent.
Oh yes, the villa offers activities to do for free. They have Yoga/Kayaking/Boxing. They even have Batik painting too but that's chargeable. It's so fun we actually wished we stayed longer so we can do the activities. We ended up staying in the room and ordering food. But oh wells. We did have fun.
Up till now, Husband says that it's the best hotel he's ever been to.
SO YAY!!! #happyhusband = #happywife

We also went to Tiger Kingdom (we were somehow forced to lah.) But it was a good visit.
Umar was sleeping but when we went inside the cage, he woke up (we had to remove the carrier).

Discovered this mini bazaar near the city area.

Everywhere you go, if it's seafood and there's no pork..."Hala Hala."
It means "halal".

Not really trustworthy k.
Better check their menu beforehand!

I guess that's all for this post!
Phuket was fun. Where next, husband?

My BF Journey

Hello! It's been quite awhile since I wrote, so I was inspired to write about my breastfeeding journey. It is probably one of my greatest achievements. (haha) When I first gave birth to Umar, of course I had difficulties adjusting and it was tough, as any other new mummies had went through. It was painful, frustrating and lots of tearing up in the shower. It got to the point where I bled. Yes. And you still have to breastfeed as per normal. What i read and found out was, the saliva from your baby's mouth has enzymes that will heal your cracked n. (mummies will know what the n. is for la ha...) Some mummies say use cream, some do this, some do that. For me, i tried cream but it didn't work... Plus, how you going to put cream and then let your baby nurse?? So i'd only put cream when Umar is sleeping and not nursing but personally, it did not help me at all. Now, this is normal until you get used to it. At that point of time, I did not think i will continue breastf...
